Our History
Like so many of our students, we started small and blossomed.

The growing recognition of the value of the Montessori approach to child development and education has enabled our expansion. Our staff, parents and students nurture a sense of community and commitment that ensures our students have a strong foundation for the years to come.

Our Bellefair casa pre-school has a long tradition of offering a superb Montessori education in our community. When many parents expressed a desire to continue their children's Montessori experience beyond the pre-school years, Joan Walder, Bellefair's principal, joined with Carole Cristiano, a Kew Park Montessori parent and teacher, to launch a Montessori elementary programme.

In September 2000, Kew Park Montessori Day School began modestly with 17 students enrolled from grades one to three. Despite the lack of a permanent home and even the most basic facilities, enrollment quickly grew. A permanent location at 79 Hiawatha was extensively renovated to meet the needs of the students and is now home to approximately 90 students.

In 2006, our Hiawatha location changed hands. Eductors, Tarynn Parry and Tacha Pearce-Miller, became principals of the school. Both Tarynn and Tacha have a long history with Kew Park, and are experienced teachers and administrators. Carole Cristiano continues to work at Hiawatha. Joan Walder, continues as owner and principal at our Bellefair Location.

Today, our Hiawatha location offers both full day and half day casa programs and an elementary program for grades one to six. In 2004, we proudly graduated our first grade six class.
